Breakout Discussion: “I’m So Hungry I Could …”

On Sunday, the message was about hunger and thirst for righteousness. Tonight, we aim to reflect on how our physical hunger and thirst works, to perhaps recognize hindrances to our spiritual hunger and thirst for righteousness, and gain insight on how we can work to reset our spiritual appetite. But before we get started, let’s pray.

Breakout Passage:

Matthew 5:6 KJV

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Q1: Have you ever been sick and you did not feel like eating? Share one word you might use to describe that feeling and why you chose that word. (Develop one sentence to communicate the facts of this experience.)

Q2: Have you ever eaten so much you couldn’t eat anything else? Talk about what foods or ingredients tend to rob you of your physical appetite? (List them all in the chat. Then develop one sentence to communicate the facts of your experience?)

Q3: If it’s possible to get full on junk food, is it also possible for our spirit man to be so full of other things that we just don’t sense we have any room in our appetite for righteousness? (What are some things you have noticed that tend to rob people of their appetite for righteousness, God’s Kingdom, God’s perfect will, God’s direction, God’s purpose, God’s command, etc…)

Q4: Could the answer to resetting our spiritual hunger be revealed in our practical hunger? What could happen if we got full of God’s righteousness?

* Are you ready for a corporate fast? Well, it’s coming soon. Get ready!

Benediction: Jude 1:24-25
