Breakout Discussion: “Ending The Sunday Love Affair”

The story of the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-30, shows us how we can believe that God is satisfied with the way we are currently, even though we only spend a few intentional hours on Sunday in His presence. Tonight, we seek to End The Sunday Love Affair to give God the kind of worship that He deserves. Before we dive into our discussion, let us pray.

Breakout Passage(s):

Read the passage. Then discuss the questions

John 4:23-24 KJV

[23] But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

[24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Breakout Questions:

Q1: Building relationships takes time no matter if it’s good or not. However, what are some problems people can encounter because they have stronger relationships with people or things than they have with God?

Q2: What was the significance of the Semaritan woman dropping her pale? What are some things we must be willing to drop if we want to please God? (Note: The fact that she originally went to get “something” from Jacob’s well but never got it, says a lot.)

Q3: How can we begin to reclaim our time back so we can give God the lifestyle of true worship that He requires of us?

Prayer: Repentance, Faith to Drop anything preventing my true worship, Lord Let Us Taste The Living Water, etc….

Benediction: Jude 1:24-25
